The First Few Days
During the first several days after liposuction, swelling, bruising, and soreness are common. Compression garments are worn to support healing and reduce swelling. Drainage of fluid from incision sites may occur and is normal.
Most patients focus on rest, light walking, and following postoperative instructions closely.
Week One
By the end of the first week, discomfort usually improves significantly. Swelling and bruising are still present but begin to fade. Many patients return to desk work or non-physical jobs during this time.
Compression garments continue to be worn as directed.
Weeks Two to Three
Swelling continues to decrease, and early contour changes become noticeable. Bruising fades substantially. Light exercise and normal daily activities are often resumed with surgeon approval.
Some areas may feel firm or uneven as tissues heal, which is temporary.
Weeks Four to Six
By this stage, most swelling has resolved, and results look more defined. Compression garment use is gradually reduced. Patients usually return to full exercise routines unless otherwise instructed.
Three Months and Beyond
Final results continue to refine over several months as residual swelling resolves and tissues settle. Fat removal is permanent, and results are long lasting when paired with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle.
