The Brazilian butt lift is a popular procedure due to its uncomplicated nature and low-impact approach. The operation involves a surgeon taking fat from other body areas such as the abdomen or thighs and transferring it to the buttocks to alter and lift them. This simple fat transfer surgery has a quicker recovery period than other more intensive buttock augmentation strategies. Not only does the patient gain volume to the buttocks, but they also benefit from the body contouring effects of liposuction at the donor area.
BBL Recovery Timeline
Two days after the Brazilian butt lift procedure, the patient can remove the compressive garment to gently clean the buttocks. At the end of the first week, they must go to the surgeon’s office to assess the healing process and have the sutures and drainage tubes removed.
After the initial week of recovery, the donor sites and the area surrounding the buttocks should have healed enough for the patient to return to their normal activities or job. For the initial few days, they must take plenty of rest, keep themselves hydrated, and perform short walks or light exercises at home to reduce the risk of blood clots.
Patients who don’t have to stay seated for prolonged periods of time at their job can return to it during the second week post-operation, although they should avoid sitting directly on their buttocks to let the area heal. It is recommended to arrange for help at home for the first couple of days and request time off from work. After two to six months have passed, the majority of the swelling and bruising should have disappeared and the patient should be completely healed.
