Forehead / Browlift Options

Forehead Lift

Brow lift plastic surgery is performed for reversing the effects of aging on the forehead or around the eyebrows. The procedure allows for restoring youthful looking facial contours. Sagging brows tend to create poor facial expression. They may even limit vision in certain cases. The cosmetic surgeon may recommend a brow lift or forehead surgery in such cases.

You should feel free to clear all your doubts and concerns by asking questions about the procedure during initial consultation. Few surgeons may recommend getting a combination of eyelid lift and brow lift to create results that are more natural looking.

During your initial consultation, the surgeon will determine your candidacy for a particular brow lift technique. Board certified female plastic surgeon Dr. Kristi Hustak provides forehead lift surgery to patients in Houston, Texas, and surrounding communities.

Advantages of Brow Lift

The cosmetic surgeon may recommend a brow lift depending on the patient’s cosmetic goals and the amount of sagging skin. There are several techniques to this procedure. It involves incisions of different types and lengths depending on where the surgery is to be performed. It also depends on whether the surgery is to be combined with an upper eyelid lift or forehead lift.

Brow lift is a safe and proven effective cosmetic surgery for the restoration and rejuvenation of the upper portion of the face. Main benefits of this procedure include:

  • Lifting the brows to a more alert and youthful position
  • Repositioning low or droopy brows that tend to hang over upper eyelids
  • Creating an expression of a more active, relaxed, youthful, and approachable person

Suitable Candidates for Brow Lift

Men and women with the following traits make for ideal candidates for forehead lift plastic surgery procedure:

  • Sagging brows are resulting in the face looking old, grumpy, and tired
  • Face appears tensed because of conspicuous horizontal lines across the forehead
  • Deep frown lines or furrows at the top of the nose or between the brows
  • Excess fat tissue and loose skin is hanging over the eyes

Procedure for Brow Lift Surgery

The procedure for performing brow lift surgeries has evolved over the years from being an open surgery to a more short incision surgery. The surgery is now less invasive and endoscopic. There are three main techniques to performing a brow lift surgery.

Open Brow Lift

A relatively long incision is created across the forehead in this technique. The surgeon will place an incision around the hairline or within one of the facial creases. The surgeon shall proceed to lift the skin from underlying tissues, remove excess fat and reposition the muscles. They will then suture the brow back into place.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

An endoscope is used in this technique through small incisions created in the scalp. The surgeon is able to check the internal structures by a tiny camera attached to the endoscope. This technique allows for a more precise surgery in a less invasive way.

Limited Incision Technique

This technique is non-endoscopic in nature and involves small incisions. External part of the brow is raised. Any scarring that occurs gets hidden within the temporal hairline.
